Adding a withdrawal button in Wix – step-by-step guide (2026)
How to add the legally required withdrawal button to your Wix shop – step by step, without code.
Wix is one of the most popular website builders. From 19 June 2026, Wix shops that sell to consumers also need a withdrawal button under the EU-wide rule (in Germany § 356a BGB). This guide shows how to add it in just a few minutes – without coding skills.
Does the obligation affect my Wix shop?
Yes, as soon as you sell to end consumers (B2C) via Wix and a right of withdrawal exists. The obligation applies regardless of the shop system – a Wix shop is just as affected as a Shopify or WooCommerce shop.
Pure B2B shops and goods exempt from the right of withdrawal are not affected. When in doubt, our obligation check helps.
Requirement: a Wix Premium plan
The „Custom Code“ feature is only available from a Wix Premium plan (Light, Core or Business). The free Wix plan does not support external code – so an upgrade is a prerequisite for adding it.
Step by step: adding the withdrawal button in Wix
- Register for free with WiderrufButton and copy your personal widget key from the dashboard.
- In the Wix dashboard, go to Settings → Custom Code (under „Advanced“).
- Click „+ Add Custom Code“, insert the WiderrufButton script tag, choose „Body – end“ as the placement and „All pages“ as the pages.
- Click „Apply“ and publish the website.
The button only appears on the published live site, not in the Wix editor – this is normal. Test it on your live website.
Adjusting colour, size and position
You can conveniently set colour, size, font and position in the dashboard with a live preview – without changing the embed code. Our customisation guide shows you how.
Common mistakes
- Free Wix plan: „Custom Code“ is missing – a Premium plan is needed.
- Choosing the placement „Head“ instead of „Body – end“ – the button may then not load visibly.
- Not publishing the website after inserting the code – changes only take effect once live.
